Today is sort of my first day of training. I started really training about three months ago but then came the holidays, and my whole family came over so I took about a good month off from serious training. So today is really my first day back to training!
I woke up this morning feeling very good and motivated to get myself back on track. For breakfast I had a nice healthy omelet with shredded cheese and diced ham and of course some coffee (I can't live without coffee) to start my day. My brother who is a sports trainer told me that eggs are the best thing to eat for breakfast because it gives you the energy you need for the rest of the day but also fills you up so you don't feel like snacking later. He also only allows me one slice of bread a day to minimize my carb intake, which at first was hard to get used to because I would eat bread in just about every meal, but after a while the cravings went away and I also felt like I had more energy throughout the day.

After breakfast I let me food digest a little then got my things ready to go to the rock climbing gym. I've only ever climbed indoors cause I'm afraid to climb outside (I know, I'm a wimp). I haven't actually climbed in about two and a half weeks, which any climber knows, is a lifetime in climbing and can really set you back. You now have to reteach your body the movements and regain your strength. Even taking just a week off can harm your climbing training. Needless to say, today was a pretty rough climbing day, but I still got through it and I'm planning to go again on Wednesday to regain my strength and movements. Right now I mostly boulder, since I do not have anyone to belay with, but bouldering does help with ANW training since there are similar movements and strength obstacles on the course.
Here are two videos of me bouldering. The first one is from today. I am little rusty since it's been a while. The second one is from about eight months ago when I was at my climbing prime.
I am climbing my first V3 in the second video which was really exciting at the time! Since I have not trained so much with climbing, I am currently bouldering V2's and some V3's but not as good as I used to. Now I am fully dedicated to both ANW training and bouldering so I will be back at that point soon enough!
Last thing. I go on spring break in nine weeks, and my family (which is HUGE) decided that we are going to have a family reunion in Tennessee (don't ask why Tennessee because I have no idea...). They recently saw me at Christmas, and of course bugged me about my weight, which is what hispanic families do... (I'm used to it by now, so I just laugh at it). Anyway only my parents, and brother know that I am training for ANW so I want to show up to Tennessee and show everyone not just how much healthier I have become but also stronger. Up until about a month ago I would be able to do one pull up, but my goal now is to be able to do three in a row by the time I see them. This is another thing that is keeping me motivated because I want to prove not only to myself but to my whole family that I am healthy and strong, and that I will fight for total victory!
Keep Motivated :)
